Joseph Slye

Joe Slye is an executive consultant with the Federal Quality Consulting Group (FQCG), on special assignment from the Internal Revenue Service. He works with government executives to transform culture and systems to create innovative solutions for a customer-driven government. He uses the principles of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the recommendations of the Vice President's National Performance Review to customize and instruct seminars and consult with executives.

Joe has done extensive consulting with the Department of Energy, designing a series of seminars for senior executive-led intact teams, to focus on leading change and improving performance. His many other clients include the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Department of Transportation, the General Services Administration (GSA), the FDIC, and the Comptroller of the Currency, the FAA and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Prior to his consulting work, Joe held a variety of management positions throughout the government. He served as Director of Public Affairs at the Federal Housing Finance Board, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Urban Mass Transportation Administration. He was Associate Administrator for Public Affairs at GSA, where he managed media relations, publications, video production, employee relations, agency newsletters, and televised training in public speaking and media interview techniques for senior executives.

With his extensive media background, Joe is frequently invited to government conferences and meetings as a guest speaker or lecturer. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Federal Executive Institute and has served as a group leader for the Presidential Management Intern Program.

Joe has a B.A. and an M.A. in public relations from The American University. In addition, he has participated in programs for executives at the Federal Executive Institute and the Creativity Problem Solving Institute. He is a member of the American Society for Quality Control. A native Washingtonian, he lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with his daughters.
