Dana Lakeman is an executive consultant with the Federal Quality Consulting Group, on a part-time special assignment from the Federal Aviation Administration. He works with government leaders at all levels of government to transform culture and systems to create a customer-driven government. Dana uses the principles of the President's Award for Quality, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, various software application tools, and the recommendations of the Vice President's National Performance Review when he customizes and instructs seminars and consults with government leaders.
Dana is an extensively trained and experienced leader, manager and change promoter with a background in quality management. He has managed two divisions at the Federal Aviation Administration where he made innovative changes in such areas as personnel selection practices, training delivery, effective communication practices, customer feedback systems, and management information systems. Dana has represented the Associate Administrator and other senior executives on various agency level committees and special projects. He graduated from the Federal Aviation Administration's Mid-Level Management Development Program and the Department of Agriculture's Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program. He has worked special assignments at the White House, Office of Presidential Personnel, and Federal Aviation Administration Security, Drug Interdiction Task Force.
In addition to numerous performance awards, Dana was recognized by the U.S. Air Force Museum for saving a priceless piece of American history for the museum collection, by leading a restoration team to restore the only surviving model of a W.W.II aircraft.
Dana has a B.S. in Management, and is a licensed commercial pilot, flight instructor, and aircraft mechanic. He is a Certified Quality Auditor by the American Society for Quality Control. He is pursuing graduate studies in management information systems. He lives in Fairfax, Virginia with his wife and son. He enjoys golf, model railroading, sport shooting, and home remodeling.
